Nine-year-old Jericho Scott is a good baseball player -- too good, it turns out.

A 9-year-old boy may be banned from baseball because of his 40-mph pitch. The right-hander has a fastball that tops out at about 40 mph. He throws so hard that the Youth Baseball League of New Haven told his coach that the boy could not pitch any more. When Jericho took the mound anyway last week, the opposing team forfeited the game, packed its gear and left, his coach said.

Officials for the three-year-old league, which has eight teams and about 100 players, said they will disband Jericho's team, redistributing its players among other squads, and offered to refund $50 sign-up fees to anyone who asks for it. They say Jericho's coach, Wilfred Vidro, has resigned.

Thats pretty damn sad. Poor kid.
Smokeyandthebandit
What irritates the hell out of me is now they're thinking its corruption in the little league because the kid declined to join the defending league champs, and they happen to be a big sponsor of the league. Not to mention the kid thinks its his fault everyone isn't getting a chance to play.

This is absolute bullshit!

This world has gone ****ing stupid, all these politically correct sissies need to go and die in a fire. (Sue me)

Sounds like the kid got talent.. without too much knowledge of baseball.

But banning him and his team is a very drastic step, a better idea will send him on talent camp, if that exists in baseball

Are you trying to connect those of certain political belief's and views with certain gender traits and or stereotypes of each?

And you call yourself a moderator ... I might have to report you to the commision for discrimination against people of non-specific gender or the court for the protection of those with various political beliefs!

Sounds like the kid should move up to the next age division.
senor freebie
Yeah that'd be the Australian solution. I got moved up an age division in basketball because I hit my early teens growth spurt earlier then everyone else. There wasn't teams boycotting me or w/e even if I was half a foot taller for a while.

Total fething bull; its 'political' and 'social' 'correctness' gone too far.

We have similar crap over here on this side of the pond, where some schools have banned 'sports day'beacuase kids might get upset if the lose all their events and parents get aggressive with other parents and kids who do better than average.
Especially if the school has a mix of social classes with some from an 'estate' US citz- read 'estate' 60's-90's built new housing settlement that is generally council/city/cheap housing teen gangs and crime problems.
