Anyhoo, "I'm back", for those who actually remember me. Probably not, but I expected as much. So, hi (again). I decided to reinstall BF2 + POE2 and snipe some unsuspecting targets. So far, it seems to work out pretty well. Last time I played was on a Pentium 4. Must say that proper up to date hardware makes BF2 run quite nicely!

Ill also be plaguing the IRC channel and paying visits to the TG server.

But, yeah. Right. Okay. Questions? ASK! Weee..

The abyss is.. the void. Limbo. Also referred to as "hell". Basically a not so nice place. But the cookies and milk are great! And once you get to know the undead, they're not *that* bad. Kinda shifty characters, but otherwise easy to get along with.

Who am I? Mariena (Also my nickname, it's actually original enough. Otherwise known as Snowlight, but only on IRC. Possibly a game or two. Not in steam games, I've got an entirely different nick there). 22 years old, natural blonde (be very afraid!), usually quite cheery, happy, and possibly kinky (I did NOT say that!).

I played BF1942, pretty good. Then Battlefield: Vietnam; I felt ripped off for playing a filler game. Didn't like PoE1.
I played BF2 a bit, felt it was terrible after a while and tried PoE2. Played PoE2 for a few months right when it came out and then shelved the whole game. It didn't run that well on my P4 anyway.

Now with a new bad ass computer and a sudden urge of playing arcade shooters, I have returned!

I'm also a tiny bit of a gun nut with my own TRG-42 locked up safely in a safe (and proper certificate/license). I pondered for years whether I should be joining the KCT (Korps Commandotroepen, Dutch Commandos/Special Forces) but eventually decided that risking my beauty and brain (oh puh-lease!) in the battlefield was probably not the best idea and hence I study electronics and only use my rifle at a shooting range for fun. Occasionally.

In PoE2 you'll often find me (or not, bwhahaha!) hiding among the swamps, bushes and thick tree groups lying in wait with a sniper rifle for a good shot.

As to what's going on? I have no clue either! I was hoping you could tell me!

You'll find my Benelli, Knife, and aircraft bombs have an odd tendency to root out particularly well hidden snipers. (As well as my Leo 2, Abrams, Oplot, and T-55.)

I've had plenty of games where I'm well hidden, 20+ kills, 0 deaths! I even have the replay to one of them. /ego.
So far I've died by teamkillers and a very well placed dead helicopter that magically headed straight for me and killed me with all it's wrecky glory. Groan.

It gets cold on those ridge tops. . . .

I make sure the snipers that head up ridge/roof/any tops don't survive very long. Camping on ridge tops is one of the dumbest things you can do as a sniper. BF2 suffers from the same problem that was obvious in the Delta Force series. An enemy sniper would be a tiny, but obvious, black pixel on top of a mountain. The further the mountain is, the less colors of the mountain are visible and is 'engulfed' by a moderate fog. However, player models keep their original colors and aren't affected by the fog... thus, on an almost white mountain you see this obvious black square. I hope I explained that right

Same goes with BF2, especially on the ridge tops... that's why I avoid skylining like the plague. You can see a lot more from a high position, but more people can see you as well. If you have a certain objective in mind that you need to cover, why not minimize your exposure to the rest of the battlefield? Patience, well aimed shots (that means no spamming because you didn't get a hit the first shot) and moving from time to time will secure a long lifespan in the horrific world of BF2, where the life expectancy of the average soldier is less than a Soviet conscript in the Battle of Stalingrad

I know you've got a 42, and as impressive as that rifle is, ain't no way it can hit me all the way over here.

Well, unless you use some sort of kinetic accelerator or booster rocket to toss it into low earth orbit, but that would require an awful lot of money and precision tracking equipment. And a good prediction of where I will be at the time the projectile deorbits.
