Folder is uncomfortable, wood is much easier to get a good cheekweld on. And that makes it easier to hit what you're aimin at. . . .

I love you Krazny(no homo)

I wish I could afford weapons like that. Unfortunately I've just got my AK47(Romanian) and my Mossberg 500 to tide me over for now sad.gif. Excluding of course the other weapons I shoot from time to time(.50 cals, M240s, M249s, M9s, M4s, etc.), but those aren't really that fun to shoot. Except for the .50 cal of course wink.gif.

A buddy of mine does have a small collection of his own that he lets me shoot every now and then when I get a chance on leave.

Krazny
Phoenix!

How ya been man! Stayin safe and outta Haji's sights? How long ya back for?
Krazny
As an additional note, fitting an M14 rear sight SUCKS ASS.

Especially when my waterstone A.) Loads up in 2-3 passes, and B.) breaks in half when I tried to clean it. . . . .
Phoenix
Been doin alright Kraz,

Been back since... late April I think. Don't know how much longer until I deploy again, most of the rumors goin around say we're going to Trashghanistan in March to do some shake and bake.

I would love to shoot M249. I mean a machine gun with no recoil must be fun.
Smokeyandthebandit
A machine gun with no recoil? Johnathon, you card!
Russianlynxy
Kraz, have I shown you this? smile.gif

I shot one this summer. You are definitely wrong about the no recoil bit.

But it should kick less than a 5.56 assault rifle, right? And yes, I'm basing this on ArmA.

why would it? It's a pretty big gun.
senor freebie
More weight = less recoil
More forward power = more recoil

M-249 recoil < M-16 recoil

UNLESS ... the M-16 is better designed to compensate for recoil which I don't see as being logical.

Sort of. You've got the right idea, but but not all the contributing factors and variables.

Recoil is based on the size and power of the round being fired, the weight of the gun, barrel length, and any muzzle devices fitted.

FELT recoil is a product of the round, firearm shape/layout, muzzledevice, barrel length, and any reciprocating mass inside the weapon.

The M249 to me feels to have more recoil than an M-16 because of the greater reciprocating mass size and the stock layout.

You can handle it in the shoulder while standing, lets say that.

Well yea.

But I can also handle a 50 fired offhand. . . .
Phoenix
Never said you were gonna be able to hit anything, but then again that's what 200rnd belts are good for wink.gif.
Jonathan_Archer_nx01
Let's say you're standing while holding M16A3 with 100 drum mag in one hand and M249 in another. Which one would you be able to have better grouping with?
