War is a terrible thing, so many dead people. Nevertheless, it is still fascinating. I think it must be something in the blood of mankind that has us so fascinated and in-awe of war, even though we know how terrible it is. Those are some excellent pictures. I'm sure you're probably not too fond of Georgians, but if you find some good pictures of Georgians in combat post those up too

You bring up an interesting point:
Speaking for myself and I'm sure many other Russians at home and abroad who feel the same way: As much as we wanted Russia to succeed in this conflict something did not feel quite right - something almost close to the feeling of fratricide.

Some nice shots in there. I have enjoyed the ones that the news is passing around, very interesting to see this equipment in action. A few of those feel right out of some of our POE maps

I would like to stress that this thread needs to remain non-political so it can remain. Feel free to post more images, but think twice before you comment on them or the situation presented in them.

I second this. Based on the topic on the PoE debate forum there is a wide range of political views. The Associated Press have some interesting pictures of the fighting including some armoured vehicles that looked to me like M-60's, something that was previously unreported as part of Georgia's arsenal;

Notice there's very little of the "new war toys". Why risk getting shot down in an expensive Fullback when you can expand the Su 24 which in this case can perform the same task. The only thing that's "old" on that aircraft you see is the airframe itself.
P.S. I think Reuters are the most hardcore when it comes to war pictures. I think they are the blue guys in helmets walking over to the BMP crew in "BMP taxi". They take some of their best photos under fire, lol

There was only about 7-8 pictures when i saw them and they were burnt out wrecks. I couldn't quite tell cos they were in the distance and wrecked but the turret shape looked like a 60 ... or maybe the T-54 (didn't that have a fairly high turret?)

It must have been said to the devs by US government that there will be war, with only a few months inaccuracy

No matter, the conflict was frozen, not resolved from 1992, but some ppl insisted they dont want peace and want to kill for land and influence.
Stuff like destruction of WTC was in RA2. Real ppl are inspired by war games. Bin Ladin was inspired while playing RA2 soviet campaign.

Tom Clancy also wrote a book in I think 1999 where a 747 slammed into the Capitol building in Washington (sorry if I'm way off on its name). Cept in his story it was a Japanese pilot who was disgruntled because during a skirmish between the USN and JSDN his son had died. Oh and the plane was empty but it was the state of the union address so the entire US government ... except for Clancy's protaganist survived.

I think the no political posts has nerfed the forums. They're boring now. I understand with so few regular posters it dominates the forums, but a few feisty arguments is better than no posts at all. Especially when this mod itself is set in a political construct.
