Full Version: Lada Made A New Car
Point of Existence Forum > Off Topic > The Barracks

I thought this would be interesting/cool to post.
To tell you the truth I've never seen a native Russian car look anything like this (excluding the licensed Russian BMWs Fords etc... that we make here)

Jonathan_Archer_nx01
Ladas' are damn unreliable.
RedAero
Still powered by a tractor engine I presume. And a security rating comparable to a horse.
Lord of all Hedgehogs
I thought Lada was forbidden to ever make a car again after their dreaded Samara-model????

Anyway, they should have been...

Unless it's been taken over by VW or Renault (like Skoda, Dacia, Seat...), I wouldn't trust it

Are they attempting to make a chav car because thats what it currently looks like.

Lada is still making the Niva but this new concept looks realy great.
Russianlynxy
Lada is collaborating closely with American Chevrolet right now..

This is the new Niva you're think of, personally, not my cup of tea. There's plenty of them on the road right now.

Still better than anything china can hope to make though..

P.S.
if things are gonna keep continuing in this direction, Europeans will change their minds about Russian cars and will begin buying them (because they are efficient and inexpensive)...

The LADA-C which I orinigaly posted pics of looks damn sexy and is scheduled for 2009. Hell maybe I'll even buy one! Right now i am lovin my Ford Explorer XLT tongue.gif

You're kidding me, right ?

It looks like the car concept artist had a seizure while drawing the car, and they had to call a 5-year old kid to finish the job. And I won't talk about the fugly interior...

Also, in Europe, Lada has the reputation of being unreliable, and that reputation ain't gonna change any time soon. We still got plenty of reliable and cheap cars in stock.
Russianlynxy
You mean those crappy BMWs and VWs? that are all made in Turkey now!?

LOL! There is not such thing as European quality anymore. European cars are still expensive ... but have transferred their production to Turkey... and they are utterly horrendous at car manufacture.

They wanted to make more money by sacrificing quality.
RedAero
Wait, so you're trying to argue that your Russian-designed, Russian-made Lada(*retch*) is better than what the Germans, the French or the Brits can throw at it? Right...
Lord of all Hedgehogs
heck, even Alfa Romeos are decent these days

If Chevy is collaborating with Lada, the whole un-reliablity image is not going away anytime soon. Well, maybe being associated with Lada will actually make people think Chevy's will become more reliable...
Recon_Team
Ouch.

At the moment the only Russian car I might get would be a pimped out BRDM.

I LOVE YOU! I remember that being posted here year(s) ago. I've been looking for it for ever.

Imagine driving that into work. Nobody is going to dare take your parking space.
Russianlynxy
Too bad this a custom... and the dude probably spent several hundred thousand to re-do everything.
He essentially had the BDRM rebuilt.

Good call.

I'm sorry but Lada needs to work with someone like Toyota or Subaru before I'll take them seriously. Either that or they need to start beating Audi at Le Mans.

Chevrolet? Are you sure you don't mean Chavrolet?
Jonathan_Archer_nx01
So that was a concept car. Here is the production model

LMAO! I can think of at least 3 great manufacturing plants in an radius of 100km round my house (on of them is daimler)

There are production sites in "non-european" countries, yes, but most of the are only manufacturing small parts. The complete cars are still put together here. (Daimler, VW, BMW, etc.)

And btw. I don't think, this LADA thing can mess with the big european or american car manufacturers!
