Yeah, cause it was getting to old. Still; it's a great rifle!
And yeah, the collapsible stock is a bit awkward, just like the one on the MP5 (a bit worse actually, because of the way the shoulder piece is shaped OUTWARDS,,,)
It IS uncomfy, but not painful. And, the fixed stock is great!;-)
However; the MSG90 is going to be ingame, and that's enough for me, really.. but it would be nice=)
Correktly, but the G3 is fully in use, The AK5 is cheeper to produce, but it fires 5.56, and can't deliver that punch, like a G3. The Swedish National Guard is using the G3 (AK4). And other units aswell. But, the AK5 is comming more and more, and most units, are armed whit AK5

US could possibly use the HK417 as a 7.62mm weapon for the assault class.
Just clearing things up. About the G3, it's up to the devs wheither or not to include it.

1.) No US unit has used a G3 as an issued weapon. They probably had Chopmod M-14s, or SR-25s. Not G3's.
2.) The AK-5 is a modded FN FNC. The FNFNC was the gun used by Al Pachino in the movie "Heat."
3.) The US is about as likely to issue the HK M-417 as I am to have relations with Anna Kornikova.
4.) I'd rather see a HK51 or a Vollmer 51B for a pickup kit.

Not really.
Its a gas piston M-4. Uses 95% of standard M-16/M-4 parts, yet gives the weapon AK like reliability.

PS: What th ehell does a hot tennis player like Anna Kornikova have anything to do with this thread, PoE, or anything else on this website. Now I can tell you know nothing of what you're talking about.

When I was in Grenada, half my damn unit used G3A3s and untill last, year when I was "honorably" discharged, the US Military used the G3A4.
Ahem.
Perhaps I should have written it differently.
Federal law requires that any weapon issued to the conventional US military must be manufactured in the US, and the G3s were mostly made in Germany, with some being made in various other nations.
If these weapons were aquired unofficially, or if you were part of a special forces unit, it is possible they were G3s. The records I have access to indicate several members of US SEAL teams aquired accurized G3 rifles for sniping. And the Go fast guys always seem to have a large stash of 'unofficial' weapons to choose from. . . .
Not saying that you are making anything up, but the US have never officially issued the G3 in any quantity to anyone.

Well, lets see. . .
Apparently you fail to see the humor in the Kornikova bit. The chances of the HK M-417 getting adopted are pretty much nonexistent. Why? Well, FN already won the SCAR competetion, the .mil is looking for a rifle in 5.56 or 6.X for its next issue weapon, and there is no way a weapon that shares virtually no parts with anything in service is going to be adopted. Anyone requiring a 7.62x51 rifle will most likely recieve an M-14, or a SCAR-H.
Where the tennis star came in was because I needed an event that has pretty much no chance of happening. Like 1 in 10^8. And thus I made the crack about me having relations with the lovely Ms. Kornikova.
While it is possible the US .mil MAY adopt the M-417, it is extremely UNLIKELY.

also the US never ever used the G3 that im aware of. MP5's, yes, MK 23's, yes, but no G3's, but we had the m14 slinging the same round
also i know HK sells some of their SL series to civys, and those things are fairly close to G36's.
maybe he was thinking ofthe G36 export version?
