POE2 News #127

Welcome back to another POE news update! We will keep this one short and sweet. We are proud to announce the release of our server files for POE 2.5. We encourage servers to install this full server build and to identify their servers as running 2.5.

The final new map making it into 2.5 is by Greasy Mullet called Aces High. The map is a joint US/German level which features a large scale air battle as well as a ground game to control the island with AA. Only the team with both a strong airforce and infantry support will be victorious. Combined arms coordination here is the key.

Our singleplayer team has done an enormous amount of work on this release with seven new singleplayer maps coming on line in this release. Coldfussion put together this little film of him having a little fun with his bot coworkers, enjoy.

A request: Please make sure you add "2.5" in your server name, thanks.
BF2 does not distinguish between different mod versions when you have the "Same version" flag selected, it only affects the core game version of BF2 (1.41)

Once we are a few days past the release you can return to your normal server name, thanks for your cooperation.

Could someone please list which new maps and sizes will be singleplayer/COOP?

I do hope that some of the new maps from Greasy will be in it.

I notice that the HEAP round is gone from tanks. Which weapon replaces that; the Canister or the XM1111?

What is the purpose of the extra round after that? I had always divided things up into soft and hard targets depending on what I wanted to hit. Hard target (Sabot) hits armor Tanks, Sams, APCs (Except choppers such as the hind) everything else is a soft target (HEAP) Dozers, Jeeps, Infantry, Choppers.

I also noticed in the change log that you have removed the repair ability from the hind's slot 3 and 4. Very sneaky not to say anything about it, but I still don't like it. It further nueters my original multi purpose chopper uses which took a hit from the repair, rearm, heal loss.

Overall good work guys!

We had that info in news 125. But here it is again for ya. :D

Speaking of Single Player, in our current public release we have 16 maps with single player. Dorayacoop and Cold Fussion have been hard at work on our coming patch, we will have 7 more maps getting single player updates, 2 of which are brand new maps. The older maps getting updates include Olesko Keep, Pripyat, Op Sabre, Lutsk, and Guardian whilst the new maps shipping with Single Player are Matador and Kharkiv.

Good news... I'll add server info to the above noted location.

Here is a mirror for downloading the server file.

I hate to be "that guy" asking the inane question but I haven't been around since 1.7 or so. Will this be a full patch or will I need 2.1?

Well, with today's net connections, be it 10 GB. I don't really care.

Oh no, size doesn't matter. Uh...

Anyway, if this was a smallish patch only, I would download 2.1 tonight and have it ready to roll for 2.5 tomorrow. I'll just wait for the complete patch tomorrow. I like how single installs work best.
