POE2 News #126

Welcome back to another POE news update! As we mentioned in our last news, we've been testing the next release client for PoE2 and testing has gone extremely well. After getting the Testers seal of approval, we are pleased to announce the next release of PoE2 will be on Friday July 25th! This version will be labelled 2.5 We will be releasing the server files on Wednesday July 23rd so you have plenty of time to set up your boxes ready for Fridays' client release.

Hundreds of man-hours of hard work have gone into making this release one of our best yet. The contents of our change log for this version give a brief overview of what you can expect in 2.5. Click the image below to see what we've been up to.

One of the new features to see in this release is the introduction of more destructible statics thanks to the hard work of Dr. Destructo. Many of the new maps feature his destructible static?s but Melitopol Depot stands out as most of the map is made up of the good Dr.?s destructible environments. Don't blow everything up at once. ;)

FBmantis has put together a review of one of our maps that has undergone a facelift in 2.5, SnakeEyes. I encourage you to take a look at his take on what we have done to refine the gameplay on this gritty map.

Thats all for today, stay tuned on Wednesday for our Server Files release and on Friday for our Client release.
POE Team, signing off...

WOOT!!!
I can't wait 'til friday!!! XD
Nah kidding... I've been waiting for long while for this. I can wait another five days :D
This version is so damn promising

BTW... can we have a hint of how much will the whole thing weight on the Hard drive? I ask so I know what stuff should I start deleting in order to make soace for the new PoE.
(Perhaps I should delete all the music my bro downloaded ilegally from the net... although he'd kill me for sure and in unexplored ways). XD

2.4 gigs for the full installer (total)

About 615 mb for the 2.1-2.5 patch.

2.4 gigs? wow that is pretty hefty that's going to put a lot of people off who don't have fast connections.

We broke it into two installers one is under a gig and the other is a little over a gig and a half. Should help with download issues.

Great to see this stuff out at last :) Be warned- my map is mainly a prototype & is probably way too cramped for a good 64 (& possibly even 32) player game, but it's fun to see some new dynamics at play in the BF2 engine. I've already got a 2nd map completed which is bigger, better & even more explodable, hopefully that'll be released in a patch in the near future.
