Point of Existence welcomes you to our 130th news post!
We would like to thank everyone for the wonderful support we have enjoyed over the years. Our recent announcement that we were wrapping up production on PoE2 brought a lot of old friends around to say hello and voice their support. A big thanks to everyone that was involved in this massive production. We hope you continue to enjoy it for a long time.
During our final months of production on PoE1, we didn't know when DICE would announce the release date for BF2 and pretty much close the doors on our Battlefield Vietnam production. We were very aware that Battlefield 2 would sap our playerbase and eclipse our work. This led us to cut some details that we didn't have time to wrap up. We hate leaving loose ends and always felt like we didn't finish this chapter of our mod to the point where we would have liked.
It therefor gives us great pleasure to announce the final installment of our Battlefield Vietnam modification, Point of Existence (PoE1). We are including a nearly complete set of COOP maps and many bug fixes for the game. Dust off those Battlefield Vietnam disks and get ready to enjoy Point of Existence again!
Welcome back for a very tardy #129th Point of Existence News update.
Point of Existence 2 has been in development for over four years now. We feel it is time to announce that we are ceasing active development for the Battlefield 2 engine. We want to thank our fellow developers, testers, fans and all of the sites that have supported our mod over the years. This has been a work of love for many of us and we hope that you continue to enjoy what we have created. We intend to support any technical issues that may arise from the (cough) upcoming BF2 patch and will respond quickly if the need arises.
Every Tuesday and Friday nights Tactical Gamer is packing the house with PoE! Each Tuesday and Friday TG packs their server and runs many of the larger maps as well. Its a great time to come out and support the mod and even frag a few PoE Devs. TG is also organizing scrimmages every two weeks along with special events to showcase some of the other game modes PoE2 has to offer such as Frontline and Nuke.
We are feeling a little nostalgic and decided that it might be time to revisit PoE1. We are working on an updated final release of our epic modification for Battlefield Vietnam. We encourage you to dust off those old disks and find your serial numbers, or in the extreme go out and spend $10 and pick up a new copy! This release will have greatly improved COOP as well as fixing some long lost bugs. We'd like to thank Dnarmo and Legion for their outstanding work in adding bot support to PoE1!
Server owners who are interested in hosting PoE1 servers, please contact us and we will make some arrangements so you can be ready for our pending release.
Stop by our forums and lets begin a discussion about our next project!
Welcome back to our 128th news posting and the release of our 2.5 client files.
We have been hard at work since last winter creating new content, polishing old content and generally making a better game for you to enjoy. We are pleased to announce that we feel that work has gotten to a point where we can invite you to try it out. Our release comes in a patch version for those already playing 2.1 We are also releasing a two part, 2.4 gigabyte full client version of the mod. In the past we have tried to package the installer into a single massive download. We feel that a two download, two installer version will allow us greater flexibility when dealing with the errors associated with downloading large files. We hope you will agree.

We appreciate the hosting from Hypernia.com which has allowed us to develop PoE2 and as a condition of such hosting the Point of Existence team respectfully requests that mirror downloads not be publish for a period of 24 hours after the release.
We hope to see you on the battlefield this weekend and in the coming months. Thats all for now, POE Team signing off...
